Summer at the Ranch: July in Full Bloom
July is a month of contrasts here in the high desert of central Mexico. The days begin soft and golden, the nights echo with distant fireworks and sudden rains. The trails are lush, the horses shine, and the wildflowers seem to appear overnight — vibrant bursts of color tucked along the paths we ride each day.

This is the time of year when the ranch feels most alive. The green grasses stretch tall, the clouds gather in dramatic towers, and everything — from the birds to the burros — seems to be singing a little louder. Our herd loves this time too. Their energy is light, their coats sleek and healthy from the fresh forage. The rides feel more magical, like nature is showing off just for us — blooming magenta cosmos, yellow goldenbells, creamy datura. We've been winding through emerald trails that only exist during this window of lushness. You blink, and it's changed again..

July is also fiesta season in the nearby pueblos, and though the ranch is peaceful, there’s a subtle pulse of celebration in the air. We can sometimes hear cohetes (the traditional fireworks) in the distance, or catch a glimpse of colorful papel picado fluttering across village streets on the way to town.

For me, July has always felt like the deep inhale of the year — a pause, a fullness. It's a reminder that beauty doesn’t ask for attention — it just exists, waiting to be witnessed.

If you’ve ever wanted to experience the ranch at its most lush, this is the time. Every ride feels like a postcard, every moment an invitation to slow down and soak it all in.
