Meet Our Wrangler: Roberto

The Heart of the Trail at Rancho Baile De La Luna

When you arrive at Rancho Baile De La Luna, chances are you’ll be greeted by a cheerful, kind-eyed man in a wide-brimmed hat, already saddling up your horse with calm precision. That’s Roberto - our beloved wrangler, guide, and a true horseman with over three decades of experience.

Roberto was born and raised right here in San Miguel de Allende, and horses have been a part of his life for as long as he can remember. Before joining us at the ranch, he worked at the well-known Rancho La Loma, as well as a few other ranches, but found his true home here, where he says the best part of working with horses is “the connection that forms when you learn to listen to them.”

A Guide Who Knows the Trails by Heart

If you’ve ever ridden along the Río Laja, to the charming village of Los Ricos, or the peaceful Presa de los Torres, Roberto likely led the way. These are his favorite trails — not only for their scenic beauty, but because they hold memories of countless rides, guests, and quiet moments in nature.

He brings more than just trail knowledge to the ride — he brings presence, patience, and deep respect for the horses. When asked what makes a good rider, he simply said, “The way you treat and understand your horse.” It's a value that resonates throughout everything we do at Rancho Baile De La Luna.

Kind, Calm, and Great With Guests

Roberto is always smiling — and his warm, easygoing energy puts everyone at ease, whether it's your first time on a horse or your fiftieth. He’s especially gifted with children and beginners, offering clear, patient guidance and gentle encouragement.

He’s also a natural teacher and often gives lessons here at the ranch, helping riders of all levels grow more confident in the saddle. Many guests tell us they feel instantly comfortable around him — and that his presence makes the ride even more memorable.

A Local Soul with a Global Impact

Roberto has no single favorite horse — he says each one has its own special qualities — and many of his favorite memories return to him as he rides the trails. Off the ranch, he enjoys small-town life: riding the bus into town, fixing things around the house, and enjoying tacos and enchiladas.

One of Roberto’s favorite parts of the job is meeting new people and seeing how many of them share his passion for horses. Even guests who arrive nervous or unsure often leave smiling, relaxed, and already planning their next ride.

At Rancho Baile De La Luna, Roberto isn't just a wrangler — he’s an essential part of what makes our trail rides so special.
